Reclaim unfair bank charges

UK Reclaim unfair bank charges Bank charges are one of the biggest consumer scandals in recent years. It is estimated that banks have made up to £5 billion per year from charging their customers for simple oversights like going overdrawn, or having a cheque returned.

Typical charges range from £20 to £39, sums vastly in excess of the actual cost to the banks of dealing with the oversight.

But the gravy train is coming to an end as consumers – and the courts – have come to recognise that these kinds of charges are unfair. So far, tens of thousands of people have successfully reclaimed bank charges and it’s estimated that the major banks have paid out in excess of £1 billion to disgruntled customers.

With Debt Refunds extensive experience in reclaiming bank charges, you could join them in getting your money back.

Have you been the victim of excessive bank charges?

At Debt Refund, we handle thousands of bank charges claims every week from unhappy customers who have been penalised for seemingly minor oversights.

Although the banks are still fighting their case in the Courts, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) says that in the meantime the banks must continue to process the bank charges claims of people who are really struggling to make ends meet.

So if you want to try and claim back your bank charges, now is the time to do it – and we can help.

Our specialist bank charges team has over 20 years’ experience in dealing with banks. We will act on your behalf to argue your case in claiming back the unfair bank charges on all your accounts – personal, current, credit cards, business and mortgage.

Under the Data Protection Act, your bank must provide a summary of all bank charges made by them on your accounts over the past six years. Once authorised by you, we can obtain this information and proceed with your bank charges claim.

We do not ask for any upfront fees for reclaiming bank charges. You just need to provide a cheque for £10 made payable to your bank to obtain your statements. Once your case is finished, we charge our fee of 20% the total amount reclaimed.

How does it work?

1 Simply fill in the online reclaim bank charges application form. You don’t need to pay anything up front.
2 We will send you a letter to sign, called a ‘letter of authority’. This allows us to deal with your bank on your behalf in relation to your bank charges claim.
3 Once we get your letter of authority, we manage the whole bank charges reclaim process, keeping you informed every step of the way.
4 If, like most people, you don’t have your bank statements for the last six years, we can ask your bank for copies. To do this, we’ll need a cheque for £10. This is the maximum amount they charge for supplying your statements for the previous six years.
5 Once your bank charges reclaim case is concluded, we charge our fee of 20% of the total amount claimed.
